I started My Canadian Gluten Free Kitchen out of a desire to share my knowledge and experience living a gluten-free lifestyle. When I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, I was 22 and in the middle of a lot of life transitions. I had just moved back to Alberta, I was about to get married, and the COVID pandemic hit shortly after. All of these circumstances left me without a lot of support from friends, and professionals.
I want to share all the things it took me too long to learn, and create a community for Canadians who have been diagnosed with Celiac Disease to come together and be that support for each other. There are unique products, and labelling laws that make being a Canadian with Celiac Disease different than living with celiac disease in other countries.
Going gluten-free changed my life in the best way. It gave me a lot of opportunities to understand myself better and to learn a heck of a lot about what is in our food. Since my diagnosis, I have travelled some, moved to a different province, gained confidence in my relationship with food, and had 2 beautiful and healthy babies. I hope my story is evidence to you that you can live a beautiful and full gluten free life all while everyone around you says “you’re gluten free? Thats so hard!” and “I could never do that!” They might not be able to, but I know you can.
